Mustangs respond against Warman with home victory

Nov 2, 2025 | 10:10 PM

The Melfort Mustangs responded to their poor road performance on Friday night with a home win on Saturday.

The Mustangs were playing the Warman Wolverines for the first time in team history over the weekend, as the two clubs faced each other in a home-and-home set.

Melfort returned to the Northern Lights Palace on Saturday and earned a 5-3 victory.

The Stangs got off to a good start by burying a pair of first-period goals and taking a 2-0 lead to the second.

The Blue and Green then virtually put the game away by scoring twice in the opening two minutes of the middle frame, giving themselves a commanding 4-0 lead.

Warman cut the lead in half later on, scoring twice near the end of the period, to make it 4-2 after two.

The Mustangs restored their three-goal lead halfway through the third stanza, before the Wolverines made it 5-3 late, which is the way the contest ultimately ended.

Melfort is now 7-5-0-2 on the season and has just one game this week, before more than a week’s break.

The Stangs will play host to the Flon Flon Bombers on Wednesday.
