Men’s mental health the focus of MENtality gathering Friday in Melfort

It’s a chance for men to discuss the importance of mental health.

The Marguerite Riel Centre is hosting their 3rd annual MENtality gathering at the Kerry Vickar Centre Friday, Nov 7.

Guest speakers include Shalen Fox, Craig McCallum, Justin Hodgson, Harlan Kingfisher, and Ken Badger.

The event is designed to talk about mental health, and how struggles with it can lead to high-risk behaviours like substance abuse, gambling, and other forms of addiction. Not dealing with emotional issues can also lead to difficulty for men to be able to fully function, potentially leading to suicidal thoughts and attempts.

Organizer Kevin Arcand said the event will feature real conversations about mental health and will also focus on how to heal going forward.

MENtality is being held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.

The event is free, and for more information or to register, call Kevin or Perry at 306-752-4950 so they know how many people are attending.

Arcand said if you can’t call ahead to register, you can still pop by and be part of the conversation.
