Several local hockey players have been named to the roster of Canada West for the Junior A World Challenge in Quebec next month.

Melfort Mustangs defenceman Tao Flory has earned a spot on the team.

Flory is one of six SJHL representatives named to the squad.

The Saskatoon native and two-time Centennial Cup winner was a first-round pick of the Mustangs in the 2023 draft and has played 12 games for Melfort this season.

Rylan Hue of the Humboldt Broncos is also on Canada West.

The 18-year-old was also a first-round pick in 2023 and has seven points in his 18 games.

Humboldt product Thomas Ries joins Flory and Hue.

Ries, 19, has 21 points in 20 games while anchoring the blueline for the Yorkton Terriers this season.

Kindersley’s Jaxon Herchak, Wyatt Stinton of the Flin Flon Bombers, and goalie Taye Timmerman of Warman are the other SJHL players selected.

Head coach Trevor Blevins of the Melfort Mustangs, assistant coach Carter Hansen, and Nipawin Hawks athletic therapist Emma Galloway are also part of Canada West.
