A couple of local groups were big winners after the 100 Women Who Care groups in Melfort and Tisdale held their quarterly meetings.

In Melfort, the recipient of the $10,000 donation was the Melfort Ag Society.

“Very surprised, but very happy,” Ag Society manager Kim Eskowich told northeastNOW.

The society will use the money toward electrical upgrades to all the barns that house the 4-H cattle and the light horse competitors. Eskowich said they are youth-driven activities, which make the upgrades even more important.

“It’s got an aging infrastructure that needs to be upgraded, so this will help us very much in getting that mission accomplished.”

The Ag Society’s goal is to get the upgrades finished in the spring, prior to the summer activities. He said they don’t want to lose anything in 2026, so they will try to get the work done as soon as possible.

Eskowich said the Ag Society was honoured to be chosen to make their presentation at the Melfort chapter’s latest meeting.

“What a wonderful opportunity they provide for various organizations to have access to that type of funding,” Eskowich explained. “We cannot be thankful enough to them.”

He added the board and volunteers at the Ag Society thank the 100 Women Who Care group for both choosing them to receive the $10,000 donation and for allowing them to make their presentation.

In Tisdale, the 100 Women Who Care chapter chose the Tisdale Middle and Secondary School (TMSS) Natural Playscape Project to receive the $10,000.

“A huge thank you to these incredible women for their generosity and commitment to our community,” a post on the TMSS social media page said. “Your support will help us revitalize our school grounds and create a beautiful, natural learning environment that benefits students, families, and the entire community.”

The 100 Women Who Care groups in Melfort and Tisdale meet quarterly, with local non-profit groups making presentations at the meetings. In each community, 100 women donate $100 every four months to the winning project.
