Employees reject contract offer from Melfort Daycare Co-operative

A labour dispute at Melfort Daycare Co-operative may have escalated.
CUPE 5080 members, including early childhood educators, childcare providers, and cooks at the Melfort Daycare Co-operative, rejected the employers’ latest contract offer on Tuesday.
Members cited seniority concessions and two-tier wage increases as key concerns in negotiations.
The rejection comes after members voted 100 per cent in favour of strike action on Oct. 16. Bargaining committee member Sera Jones said in a news release that it has been a challenging round of bargaining.
