Hawks hit the highway to Humboldt; open home and home weekend with Broncos
The Hawks will take on a new look Humboldt Broncos Friday to open a home-and-home weekend set at the Elgar Petersen Arena.
Nipawin is coming off a disappointing 6-5 loss in North Battleford on Tuesday where they blew a three goal lead and gave up four unanswered goals against the North Stars. Hawks Head Coach Tad Kozun said the lesson learned from the loss is the group needs to compete for an entire three periods.
“The biggest thing for us is we need to find that full 60 minutes. Looking back on the game for 40 minutes I thought we were very, vey good but in the last 20 we weren’t very good and that cost us the hockey game. We must learn from it, talk about it, and move on and make sure we are ready to go tonight,” Kozun said.
This will be just the second time the Hawks will battle the Broncos. On Oct. 24, Humboldt edged Nipawin 3-2 at the Elgar Petersen Arena. The Broncos will look much different. The team has traded their top scorer, starting netminder, and captain this week. Kozun said Humboldt’s roster alterations are no excuse for his club to not be prepared.
