Hawks pick up rare win in Humboldt
The Hawks picked up just their third win in Humboldt in five years thanks to Sean Shiels late second period goal on Friday.
Nipawin edged the Broncos 2-1 in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) play evening the season series at a win a piece.
After Humboldt started strong the home team went up 1-0 early in the first period, the Hawks didn’t rebound until the second.
A powerplay goal by Braeden Jockims tied the game for Nipawin, Shiels notched the winner, his second game winning goal of his SJHL career. Gage Roberts did the rest in the Hawks net making 37 saves in the win. Assistant Coach Derek Hutton said the team wasn’t dominant for the full game, but two points at the Elgar Petersen Arena are always appreciated.
