A former Melfort Mustang will be continuing his playing career at the U Sports level. Will Munro is set to play with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks this fall.

Munro spent parts of two seasons with the Mustangs, which included being a part of their SJHL Championship and Centennial Cup Silver medal, 2024/25 campaign.

The Swan River, Man. native began the year in Melfort, before concluding his Junior A career with the Weyburn Red Wings this spring.

In total, Munro, a 2005-born forward, played 65 games with the Stangs, recording 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points.

Once arriving in Weyburn, the 21-year-old suited up 46 times with the Red Wings, producing 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points.

Prior to his time in the SJHL, Munro had seven points in 11 games with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Swan Valley Stampeders and four points in 81 games with the Western Hockey League’s Kelowna Rockets.

Standing at six-foot-two and 201 pounds, Munro will join an Ontario Tech squad in Oshawa, Ontario, that competes in the Ontario University Athletics East Division.

He is set to become teammates with Nipawin Hawks defenceman Brady Seabrook.
