Wet weather slows Melfort projects, but major construction remains on track
A wet start to the construction season has created challenges for several City of Melfort capital projects, but work continues to move forward on key infrastructure upgrades across the community.
Director of Community Services Rob Lok said prolonged wet weather has affected everything from road construction and excavation work to routine maintenance operations.
“Saturated ground delayed projects such as road reconstruction, made dust control difficult to manage, and limited when heavy equipment could access some work sites, ”Lok explained.
The recent stretch of warm weather has also accelerated grass growth, keeping Parks and Public Works crews busy with mowing and maintenance duties.
