Former Mustang competes in second straight ball hockey National Championship
A former Melfort Mustang continued to compete at a very high level this past weekend, but it wasn’t in ice hockey.
Boston Maxwell played for the Saskatchewan Buffalo Ball Hockey Club, representing the province at a second straight National Championship.
“It’s quite a bit different, to be honest. There are a lot of things that transfer over; hockey knowledge, for one and skills with the ball and the puck are fairly similar, although it takes some getting used to. It’s definitely an adjustment for anyone coming in from ice hockey, but it’s something I wish that I had started doing sooner. Definitely something I recommend to anyone looking to add something to their summer training,” Maxwell told northeastNOW.
“This has definitely been a different route for me, and I love it. It’s a good opportunity for a guy that’s a little bit removed from competitive ice hockey, and to be able to have that camaraderie with the boys and be able to represent your province too; it’s a very cool opportunity. It’s cool to get an opportunity to play with the guys again and experience something a little bit different in the same breath.”
