The Humboldt Broncos have made a pair of trades with the Devon Xtreme of the AJHL (Alberta Junior Hockey League).

First, the Broncos acquired 2006-born defenceman Ryan Richardson in exchange for the rights to Jack Birch and a player development fee.

Richardson has spent the past two seasons in Devon, where he produced two goals and 18 assists (20 points) over 104 contests.

Birch, meanwhile, has never played a single game in the SJHL, having split parts of the last four seasons between the AJHL and the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League).

Another 2006-born defenceman, Birch played 25 games with the Langley Rivermen during the 2025/26 campaign, registering a goal and two assists.

He is currently set to start this year with the Okotoks Oilers.

In Humboldt’s second trade, they received 2006-born forward Kasey Russell in exchange for a player development fee.

Russell has spent parts of the past three seasons in the AJHL, split between the Calgary Canucks, Grande Prairie Storm, and the Xtreme.

Last year in Devon, he registered eight goals and 11 assists (19 points) in 50 games.

Both Russell and Richardson are set to account for two of the limited eight twenty-year-old spots for the Green and Gold this upcoming season.
