City of Melfort looking to train, equip staff to deal with high number of discarded needles
The city of Melfort is looking at new ways to deal with discarded needles.
The Community Services Department report at Monday night’s council meeting revealed that the number of sharps found throughout the community has increased over the past month.
Director of Community Services Lydia Steffen told northeastNOW that city staff members have also found more needles around local facilities.
“It’s not a new issue, but the frequency that we are finding them has definitely increased,” Steffen said.
