Late comeback earns Hawks a point in overtime loss
The Nipawin Hawks fell early in Warman on Saturday, bounced back to force a tie late, but eventually lost 4-3 in overtime to the Wolverines.
Riding a two-game winning streak and looking to cap a perfect week Saturday, the Hawks found themselves down 3-0 after the second period at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex during Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) action.
After allowing goals in the middle frame, Nipawin showed no quit and got goals from Jack Janzen, Carter Cole, and Mason Lowther tying the game at 3-3 and forcing overtime before Owen parks won it for Warman. Hawks’ Head Coach Tad Kozun was proud of the resiliency of his group but wasn’t keen on the start.
“I didn’t like our game rally at all,” Kozun said on the postgame show of Nipawin Chrysler Dodge Hawks Hockey on 750 Beach Radio. “I think we are pretty lucky to get a point here tonight. We just needed a little more from everyone.”
