Charges laid in stabbing on Yellow Quill First Nation

Criminal charges have been laid against a 25-year-old Yellow Quill First Nation resident, stemming from a stabbing incident last weekend.

The Greenwater RCMP attended at a home on the First Nation March 25 after receiving reports a 16-year-old was stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital in Kelvington before being taken to Saskatoon with serious injuries.

The RCMP arrested Corey Mark Peequaquat March 31. Peequaquat was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of unlawfully causing bodily harm, two counts of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, forcible confinement and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order. Peequaquat will appear in Rose Valley court Wednesday.

The Tisdale RCMP’s Forensic Identification Services is assisting the Greenwater detachment with the investigation.
