Tim Hortons now brewing in Tisdale

Dec 21, 2017 | 7:49 AM

Coffee drinkers in Tisdale and area are rejoicing as Tim Hortons celebrated their grand opening Wednesday.

The coffee shop opened on Dec. 1 with a soft launch but now the ribbon is officially cut. Shannon Sigfusson owns the franchise with her husband Kelly. The couple has owned the Melfort Tim Hortons for seven years, and Shannon said expanding to Tisdale was a no brainer.

“In my mind Tisdale is a hidden gem, it’s got excellent shopping in town,” she told northeastNOW. “It’s such a central location for so many smaller communities in the area.”

Sigfusson said the opening of their second store dates back three years. Tim Hortons head office has spied Tisdale as a possible location, as has the Sigdfussons. She said the corporation eyes possible expansion sites and puts local owners first. The couple, who will manage the Tisdale location with their daughter and son-in-law, met the required criteria through the Melfort’s store performance. Sigfusson said Tisdale has been excited about the expansion.

“The shell goes up and everyone is like, oh it’s here. Then all the inside work drags out a bit, but we had many people asking when we are opening,” she said.

Sigfusson said their family is excited about becoming more involved in Tisdale. The family owns homes in both Tisdale and Melfort. Sponsorship agreements are in the works for Tisdale Timbits soccer, Timbits hockey plus a local seniors curling bonspiel.
