Show and Shine coming to Main St. in Melfort on Friday

Jun 18, 2026 | 4:00 PM

An iconic Melfort event is back for a 35th year.

The North East Motorsports Association is taking the reins of the Show and Shine for the first time this year, and the event returns to Main Street from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday.

President Michael Gerski told northeastNOW many people are excited to see the show return downtown after last year’s car show was held at the Exhibition Grounds.

“They like the accessibility of it being downtown,” Gerski explained.

While the main draw is always the classic cars and other show vehicles, there is plenty to take in during the Show and Shine. A swap meet will also take place on Main Street, with vendors able to set up at 2:15 p.m. The North East SPCA will serve burgers, and the Filipino Club will also sell food. Meanwhile, the Melfort Legion is hosting a Car Show Supper fundraiser from 4:30 to 7 p.m., with all money raised going toward their roof replacement project.

The snowmobile club and Melfort Wildlife Federation will sell raffle tickets, while the Historic Post Office Advisory Group will host a dessert café and entertainment with Doug Holoien and the Hometowners.

“We tried to make this mostly about community involvement, and the best way to get community involvement is to have all of our non-profits and charitable organizations try and pitch in as much as they can,” Gerski said. “With that many people drawn in on one event, it is nice to be able to try to distribute some money around everywhere for a lot of the different groups in town.”

Gerski said the MUCC go-kart club will be on hand to show off a couple of karts, and the Lions Club will host a tire toss.

“Basically, you’re going to roll a tire and try to get it through a board that’s cut with the shape of a tire, kind of like a puck shoot,” Gerski said.

The vehicles are a major draw for Melfort and area residents, while others come downtown to enjoy the atmosphere.

A portion of Main Street will close at about 2 p.m. Friday, and Gerski said participants can bring their vehicles in at about 2:30 p.m. Vehicles will be registered until 6 p.m. and cannot be pre-registered.

Awards will be handed out at around 7 p.m. Gerski said the event has received tremendous support from sponsors, with 20 trophies this year.

Gerski said they hope to expand the event with more activities in the future.
