MFD on Halloween

No tricks, just treats as MFD looks to makes their presence known Halloween night

Oct 31, 2019 | 9:00 AM

Ghosts, goblins, superheroes, villains – and firefighters – for Halloween night in Melfort.

The Melfort Fire Department is going to be out for part of the night to help any of the little trick-or-treaters.

The department will be in their red fire trucks from about 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight.

“What we’re doing is we’re just going to move throughout Melfort,” said fire chief Jason Everett “We’ll be in different places at the same time and we want to be out there and be visible as a public safety service to any of the kids or the trick-or-treaters that may need some help.”

Everett said they will all be dressed in their firefighting gear, and added that he hopes to see other ‘junior firefighters’ dressed up to snag some goodies.

“I know other departments around have done something similar and we thought ‘what a great way to get out on Halloween night’ and just be visible, and again engage with the community, that’s one of our prime mandates,” said Everett.

Fire crews will also have some candy on hand to give out to the trick-or-treaters.
