Mustangs shutout by league-leading North Stars
It was a battle of first versus second at the Northern Lights Palace on Friday in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) action.
The league leading Battlefords North Stars defeated the Melfort Mustangs 3-0 for their 21st win of the season. Mustang Captain Tyson Meyers said they were able to take some positives out of the loss.
“We learnt that we need to work on the little things more often, in practices we need to work on that as well,” he said. “North Battleford is a good team at doing those little things and I guess we learned something from it tonight.”
Melfort had their chances in all three periods of the game, but could not seem to beat North Stars netminder Adam Dmyterko who stopped 29 shots for the shutout. Shawn Parkinson stopped 23 out of 26 shots for Melfort, and was pulled with about 10 minutes to play in the game. Meyers said it’s tough to watch a goalie play so well and not get the win.
