Ramblers move to Wheatland League after Fort Carlton folds
The Tisdale Ramblers are jumping into a new league for the 2019/2020 senior hockey season.
After almost 10 years in the Fort Carlton Hockey League (FCHL), the Ramblers are set to participate in the Wheatland Senior Hockey League (WSHL) this season. Last season, just four teams participated in the FCHL and they decided to fold this season. Marketing Manager for the Ramblers, Dwight Marleau said they were looking for a new league and found the WSHL.
“There was a couple leagues we looked at,” he said. “The Wheatland league worked out perfectly for us. It’s teams we’ve played in the past in the Fishing Lake Hockey League way back in the 1990s.”
Some changes that come with moving to the WSHL is that there are less ‘import’ players allowed to play on the team, which in turn means more local players. Marleau said that’s something they want to try and get back to.
