Humboldt Mark of Excellence Awards nominations now open

Nominations are open for the 21st Annual Mark of Excellence Awards in Humboldt.

The annual event celebrates local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brent Fitzpatrick said the awards are a showcase for excellence in the community.

“There [are] about 12 categories, and they talk about different areas that are important to business,” said Fitzpatrick.

Among the awards up for grabs are Community Involvement, Safety Leadership, Marketing, Service, and Business Hall of Fame.

The awards ceremony is being held March 18, 2020, and Fitzpatrick said the evening is a lot of fun.

“The people that are nominated, and win, are quite thrilled with this whole process,” said Fitzpatrick.

The chamber is changing a few things with this year’s show to keep the event fresh.

“I’ve always been a believer that if you do the same thing year after year, you’re going to get the same results, so let’s make it just a little more fun,” said Fitzpatrick.

While the awards are the main focus of the evening, FItzpatrick said it is also an opportunity to get together and network with people around the region you may not see on a regular basis.

Diamonds of Detroit has donated a necklace for early registrants, with the deadline Dec. 15.

The regular deadline is the following month, while tickets will go on sale Jan. 9.
