Star City Fire Brigade hosting ‘Wing Thing’ on Saturday

A fundraiser will be this weekend to raise money for the Star City Fire Brigade.

The brigades annual ‘Wing Thing’ will take place this Saturday at the Star City Elks Hall. There will be bingo, craft and bake tables, ‘turkey wedges’ for sale, and a silent auction. Fire Chief Sam Abbott said it’s a big fundraiser for the brigade.

“It’ helps get some of our equipment or anything like that,” he said. “We work with the town on that kind of stuff too, but if we need something, to repair a truck or something like that, we help out.”

The department holds other events throughout the year to raise funds, but this is their major fundraiser for the year.

“Right now, one of our trucks is down,” Abbott said. “So some of the money may go towards that to help with the town.”

On top of trying to help get their truck back into commission, Abbott said funds from this also goes towards keeping the department running.

The ‘Wing Thing’ gets underway at noon on Saturday, and runs until 4 p.m. with bingo starting at 1 p.m.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door, or at the town office.
