The Melfort Trade Alliance is trying to bring a bit of New Orleans to the northeast.

The MTA is hosting Mardi Gras on Main at the Historic Post Office in downtown Melfort.

Promotion committee co-chair Ena McAuley told northeastNOW the sound editor from The Bassment in Saskatoon will be on hand to handle music for the evening.

“The music is going to be amazing, it’s going to have a very Cajun, New Orleans feel,” McAuley said. “It’s going to be great for dancing, it’s going to be great for listening, it’s going to set the stage for a really awesome party.”

O’ the Taste Catering will be in charge of the meal.

McAuley said the event coincides with the real Mardi Gras in New Orleans, which takes place a few days earlier on Feb. 25. She said Mardi Gras on Main will be a unique event that will be a lot of fun.

Tickets are $55 each, and are available at George Home Hardware and Northern Lights Gallery. McAuley said they are looking for businesses to step up and purchase a table. There is a break on the price if you purchase a table of eight.

The entertainment will be provided by Dr. Don, Crawdaddios, and Zyde-GoGo.
