Volunteer Opportunities with the SK Health Authority

The following are Volunteer Service Opportunities in Prince Albert and area for the week of February 17, 2020

The Volunteer Services Department is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions:

Patient Navigators – Day Surgery – Victoria Hospital

Patient Navigators improve the experience for surgical patients by ensuring they are in the right place at the right time.

Shifts: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.; 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – On Call

Monday – Friday

Patient Information (Greeter) – Victoria Hospital

Duties include directing patients and visitors to the various departments for treatments, tests, x-rays, or to other destinations in the hospital.

Shifts: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. – On Call

Monday – Friday

Entertainment – All Long Term Care Facilities

Volunteer performers (Musicians, magicians, actors, etc.) share their talents with residents in long-term care. Other volunteers assist by inviting residents to a specific area for entertainment, parties, sing-a-longs, etc.

Shifts: Flexible times available, Monday through Friday

Special Groups or Individuals– Big River Health Centre (306) 469-2220

Volunteers entertain, provide interesting educational presentations (i.e. Travel presentations), assist with special events, sing, and have fun with the residents.

Shifts: Flexible – 1 – 1 ½ hrs. Once per month

Special Groups or Individuals – Parkland Integrated Health Centre (306) 747-6841

Volunteers entertain, provide interesting educational presentations (i.e. Travel presentations), assist with special events, sing, and have fun with the residents.

Shifts: Flexible – 1 – 1 ½ hrs. Once per month

Pet Therapy – Wheatland Lodge, Canwood (306) 466-4949

Volunteers with well-trained, friendly pets may visit the residents at the Nursing Homes. The pets must meet the necessary requirements prior to visiting.

Shifts: Once or twice per week: Flexible hours.
