Shooting incident at Fishing Lake First Nation

A 22-year-old man faces multiple charges after shots were fired at a home on the Fishing Lake First Nation.

Wadena RCMP received a call about a male shooting at a home on March 21.

On the way to the home, police spotted the suspect male behind a vehicle on a nearby road.

He and four others were arrested.

The vehicle was searched. Police seized a firearm, ammunition, and a small quantity of illegal opioids.

Four of the five were released after an investigation.

Twenty-two-year-old Lane Nataucappo of Fishing Lake First Nation has been charged with:

  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Mischief causing danger to life
  • Discharge of a firearm while being reckless
  • Possession of a controlled substance

Nataucappo will appear at Wynyard Provincial Court March 26.

Wynyard and Rose Valley detachments assisted Wadena RCMP in responding to the incident.
