The City of Melfort has hired its new city manager.

Council voted unanimously on Monday, Feb.1 to hire Adam Homes to the position and he will officially begin his new role on March 1. Mayor Glenn George said they are very excited for Homes to join the city.

“We think we got the right person,” George said. “He fit all the bills.”

Homes is originally from Regina, but was recently the director of engineering with the City of Prince George in British Columbia. George said he’s happy to see people wanting to come back and work in Saskatchewan.

As for the man Homes is replacing, Ryan Danberg’s last day as city manager in Melfort was Monday, Feb. 1. Danberg was hired in January of 2019 as city manager and was previously facilities manager and community services director.

George had rave reviews for his former city manager.

“[Ryan] took us to the next level in two years as city manager,” he said. “He’s incredible.”

Danberg will now shift his focus to his new venture at Elk Ridge Resort where he is now a managing partner after he and a group of individuals bought the resort in the fall.
