Rose Valley couple to open community thrift store this summer

Apr 12, 2021 | 2:00 PM

Rose Valley and area will be getting a new community thrift store this summer.

Richelle and Chris Beaudry who reside in Rose Valley will get possession of the building on June 1 that will house Seva Community Thrift.

The Beaudry’s have talked about operating a store of this nature for quite some time, according to Richelle.

“We wanted to do something for the communities that we are part of,” Richelle said. “For several years, we lived in Spalding and nearby Naicam has a store like this and we really liked it and how they gave back to communities surrounding them.”

A building recently presented itself so the two decided it was time to run with the idea. The building was previously a craft store that Richelle had spent a significant amount of time in as a child.

“We are going to need to acquire some shelving and clothing racks to get set-up and then hopefully start taking donations by the end of June,” Richelle said. “We are hoping we can open by the middle of July.”

Funds brought in after bills are paid will be donated back into the communities of Rose Valley, Archerwill, St. Front, Fosston and Yellow Quill. Local clubs will be able to apply to a Board of Directors for needed funds.

The name Seva comes from the goal that the Beaudry’s have in mind for their new venture.

“With Seva meaning in the community together, that’s what we thought would be the best name for it,” Richelle said. “All we want to do is serve the community and surrounding communities.”

A group of volunteers is already lined up and willing to help with running the store once it is open to the public.

“We will also be looking for some help with manpower to get the inside ready once we get possession,” Richelle said.

Donations of shelving and clothing racks would be welcomed leading up to and in the month of June, as well as volunteers to assist with setting up the store.
