City of Humboldt announces series of videos to promote opportunities within the community

Oct 12, 2021 | 5:20 PM

The City of Humboldt is pleased to announce they have begun producing a series of videos highlighting the primary industries and recreational opportunities within Humboldt and the surrounding area.

The first video of the series, “Heart of Agriculture”, was published online for public viewing on Oct. 5. The purpose of the video series is to promote Humboldt and the region’s strengths to attract new businesses and residents.

Penny Lee, Communications manager for the City of Humboldt, said that the city is very excited about the series of videos, as they know the importance and impact that it will have on the community.

“We are very excited about the series and are confident that they will become our ‘flag ship’ marketing tools when promoting Humboldt. And with October being proclaimed as Agriculture Month, not only in the City of Humboldt but provincially as well by the Ministry of Agriculture, it is only fitting that the first video of our series, ‘Heart of Agriculture’, be unveiled at this time,” said Lee.

Filming and production of the videos will be ongoing until the summer of 2022 in order to capture seeding and harvest in the agriculture sector, as well as Humboldt’s winter and summer recreational activities.

Year-round operations in the mining and manufacturing industries, retail and small business, and arts and cultural activities, will be filmed and produced throughout the year.

Lee also mentioned how important the city felt that everything in every season was included, so that the people who don’t know everything that Humboldt has to offer would be able to learn.

“Not everyone may know every little great thing that goes on in this city. The videos speak volumes and they prove to people and show people just what we have to offer here from all different perspectives,” said Lee.

Upon completion of the series, one video will be compiled based on clips from the series.

Lee mentioned that although at the end there will only be one video to encompass everything, the city felt that 60 seconds just wasn’t long enough, so they had to create all these separate videos first, which will then be put into one.

“It’s hard to put all our of areas of strength and everything we’re good at into 60 seconds, so that’s why I thought it would be more efficient to hit specific target audiences by breaking it down into the areas of our brand itself,” said Lee.

“All of our ‘heart of’s’; agriculture, recreation, mining and manufacturing, arts and culture and retail, that really encompasses everything within the region. In order to appeal to all of our different target audiences, everything related had to be in a convenient location for them to access.”

The first video of the series entitled “Heart of Agriculture” can be viewed on the City of Humboldt’s website.
