With 45 shots on goal, the green and gold were keeping Klippers’ goalie Matthew Pesenti busy with some amazing saves on his end of the ice. It would not be enough as they continue the fight for playoff contention. In the third period alone the Broncos fired 21 shots his way while the Klippers only mustered three on Ramsay.

While both teams played a hard hitting physical game in the first, no one could bury the puck.

In just his fifth game with the Broncos, James Form kicked off the scoring eight seconds into the second for his second goal of the season finding the hole above Pesenti’s glove for a top shelf goal on his attack run from centre.

Assistant coach Carter Hansen told northeastNOW the goal from Form really got the players moving.

“We opened it up in the second period and once we got that first goal I think we kind of went from there and played the game we wanted to play.”

A scramble in front of Pesenti allowed Alex Morozoff tap it in in front for his 20th of the season and goal number two for the Broncos.

First power play opportunity for the Broncos and Connor McGrath would make it count with a pass from Rhett Gibson leading to a shot from the goal line for his 33rd of the season. With 81 points to his name this season, the LeRoy, Sask. rookie maintains his first place on the SJHL’s top skater leaderboard.

Some penalty trouble coming for the Broncos gave the Klippers the five on three advantage and Kindersley top scorer Tylin Hilbig a chance to beat out Ramsay. However, that would be it for the Klippers as Ethan Zielke would palm the pass from Connor Casparie with enough time to get a shot off from the point to make it 4-1 for his seventh of the season.

Two games remain for the green and goal with a trip to Notre Dame on Sunday March 6 followed by a week of rest before their last game against the Klippers on March 11. Rest will be key for the players as they prepare for playoffs, said Hansen.

“The playoffs is a long grind, it’s not an easy sprint to the finish there. So right now we’re focusing on rest and keeping our bodies ready for the series playoffs coming up.”

A loss from Estevan would put the Broncos in first if they can complete their own season on a six-game high. If not, the Broncos will remain in second place to face either the La Ronge Ice Wolves or the Yorkton Terriers who are battling it out for sixth place in the league.
