Mustangs’ Kotai understands last name lore in SJHL, Melfort
One of the Melfort Mustangs’ new players this season, is one who seems more familiar than the others because of his last name.
Goaltender Nick Kotai, the younger brother of Reilley and Josh, is playing his first season in Melfort this year, doing so as a 19-year-old.
“This is still a hard league, and I think a lot of people will underestimate Saskatchewan. There’s definitely a bit of Kotai lore in this league and in Melfort, but it’s exciting for me because I get to compare myself in how I do and try to live up to the name. At the same time, though, I also want to have my own path here,” Nick told northeastNOW.
“Obviously, there’s a bit of pressure to do well here, but I know I just have to focus on my own game to have success. I know I can do it, so I just have to go out there and have fun every night, and then it’ll be a great year.”
