Annual general meetings (AGM) are necessary for an organization to hold, and they can either be short and sweet, or long and drawn out.

For the Tisdale Kin, their AGM will be long, but not necessarily drawn out.

The Tisdale Kinsmen and Kinettes will host ‘LooKIN’ BacKIN’ Time’, where they’ll host fellow Kin members from across Saskatchewan at executive and annual meetings, some educational sessions, and lots of fellowship.

Jessica Steadman, committee chair for the Tisdale Kinettes, told northeastNOW the Tisdale Kin decided to use their AGM as an occasion to catch up with old friends and meet new people by surrounding events in the town around their meetings. It also serves as a chance to bring out-of-town business to the community.

“I think the businesses really appreciate us,” Steadman said. “Anytime you’re bringing in extra people into town, that’s just more people who are shopping, hitting the restaurants, and stopping at the gas station.”

Steadman said the Tisdale Kin booked the Canalta with out of town guests for events such as a social get together, Awards Gala, and barbecue.

When the Kin are touring around the town for the ‘LooKIN’ BacKIN’ Time’, Steadman said locals should expect to see some old fashioned attires being worn.

“Each time that a conference like this is held we have a theme,” she said. “This year, our theme – looking back in time – is looking back at which group is chartered, so when they became a Kinsmen or Kinette club, they’re going to dress up for that time period.

“The Tisdale Kinettes will be dressed up in our 1959 costumes, and then everybody will have full range, because people were chartered in the 40s, 80s, and 90s. I think it will be fun because you’ll see people dressed up for these things, too.”

‘LooKIN’ BacKIN’ Time’ will take place throughout the Town of Tisdale from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2.
