There will be yet another former Melfort Mustang suiting up for the St. Norbert College Green Knights this upcoming 2022/23 season

Mark Snarr, a 2001-born defenceman, has joined fellow graduate, Curtis Hammond.

Snarr, a Calgary, Alta. product, joined the Mustangs in November after a trade with the Kindersley Klippers. In 23 regular-season games with Melfort, Snarr scored two goals and added 11 assists for 13 points. He would go on to record another five assists in seven playoff games.

Prior to joining the Stangs, Snarr played a total 79 games for the Klippers, scoring two goals and adding nine assists. Snarr was also named captain for the Klippers to begin the 2021/2022 season. He was an assistant captain during the COVID-shortened 2020/2021 season.

In a press release sent to northeastnow, he commented on his decision to join his teammate down south.

“I chose St. Norbert because of the program. It is a great fit for me and my family,” he said. “This is a great opportunity to continue my education and hockey career. Everyone involved with the program is top tier, and I couldn’t have done it without the countless efforts of my parents, teammates, coaches, and friends.”

Before joining the SJHL, Snarr played for the Calgary Flames AAA club, in which he suited up for 15 games in his final year of U18 hockey.

The Mustangs’ organization is proud to announce Snarr and his commitment to St. Norbert and thanked him for his time spent in Melfort, while wishing him the very best.
