The Melfort Mustangs have added yet another off-season commit, bolstering their team up front with 2004-born forward Aidan Doornbos.

The Airdrie, Alta. product comes way from his hometown team, the CFR Bisons U18 AAA club, where he spent the past two seasons.

In 37 games this year, the 6-foot, 185 lb forward scored eight goals and added 13 assists, good enough for 21 points. During the COVID-shortened season in 2020/2021, he scored one goal in four games.

In a press release sent to northeastnow, Melfort Mustangs head coach and general manager, Trevor Blevins, spoke about the versatility his newest addition will provide in 2022/23.

“Aidan is a responsible, 200-foot player that plays with a high compete level,” said Blevins. “His ability to play with pace will also fit well up and down our lineup.”

Prior to his time Airdrie, Doornbos played the 2019/2020 season with the AC Avalance U16 AAA squad, finishing second in points, and first in goals on the team. He scored 21 times and added 19 assists for 40 points in just 35 games.
