Moe leads provincial premiers with 57 per cent approval: Angus Reid poll

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is the most popular of all the provincial leaders, according to a new poll by the Angus Reid Institute.

The poll results, released Thursday, show Moe’s approval sitting at 57 per cent, a jump of six points since June.

“Premier Scott Moe announced last month that adults in Saskatchewan would be receiving a $500 cheque after the province delivered a surplus budget,” the right-leaning think tank noted.

“High resource prices, including oil and potash, increased by supply issues and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, have boosted the economy as residents struggle with inflation in their day to day lives.”

Coming in second and third place were Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston with 53 per cent and B.C. Premier John Horgan with 51 per cent.

Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey had the fourth-highest approval at 45 per cent, followed by Quebec’s François Legault (43 per cent), Ontario’s Doug Ford (41 per cent), New Brunswick’s Blaine Higgs (32 per cent) and Alberta’s Jason Kenney (30 per cent).

Coming in last by a large margin was Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson, who was sitting at 22 per cent approval.

The poll was conducted from Monday through Wednesday, drawing from a representative, randomized sample of 3,941 Canadian adults who are members of the Angus Reid Forum. The poll’s margin of error was estimated at +/- 1.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
