Hawks set for trip to Melville to face Millionaires
The Nipawin Hawks have been off for eight days and will now begin an important three game stretch against the Melville Millionaires starting Sunday on the road.
Nipawin hasn’t played since Nov. 19 when they were doubled 6-3 by the Klippers in Kindersley. The Hawks are sitting in a tie for seventh place in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and now Melville will be trying to steal points and chase the Hawks down as the Millionaires sit in 10th place, just two points back of Nipawin.
“These are all big games, we know where we are at and where some of the other teams are at,” explained Head Coach Tad Kozun. “Our next three games are against the same opponent that right now we are kind of in the same spot. This is a huge trio of games, and we can really separate ourselves.”
The break for the Hawks came at a great time, the team has been dealing with a flu bug that has gripped the entire SJHL causing postponements league-wide this past week. Kozun said the team was able to prepare as best as possible and said with another break in three weeks for Christmas, there are no excuses for the team to play hard until then.
