Mustangs looking to reset heading into weekend set with Terriers
After a western road swing that went south, the Melfort Mustangs are back in action on Friday night for a weekend set with the Yorkton Terriers.
Last Saturday, the Mustangs fell 6-4 to Battlefords before falling 5-2 to Kindersley the next night as the team flipped a three-game win streak into a two-game losing skid.
Mustangs assistant captain Clarke Huxley said they needed to get back to the basics after what was a difficult weekend. They also need to exorcise some demons that have plagued them on the road as Melfort has gone just 2-4-0-1 away from the Northern Lights Palace in the 2023 calendar year.
“I think it’s between the ears, I think it’s just in our heads,” Huxley said. “It sucks getting off the bus and your legs are stiff and all that but I think it’s just in our heads, and we’ve got to get over that.”
