Humboldt woman wins $100K on scratch ticket

A woman in Humboldt is much richer after buying a scratch ticket.

Phyllis Willenborg bought a CROSSWORD ticket at the community’s Thrifty Market on Mar. 14.

At first, she didn’t think she had won anything significant as she had only uncovered four words and needed 10 for the grand prize of $100,000. She quickly realized she still had some more letters to scratch and after finishing, she uncovered six more words.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” she said.

Willenborg ended up driving back to Thrifty Market where she used the self-checker to see if she had truly won $100,000.

“I had no idea I’d ever win anything like that, she added.

Willenborg is planning to use some of the money to help her family. As for the rest, that’s still up in the air.
