St. Mary falls on the road, Carlton remains undefeated as NSFL wraps up week six

The inaugural season of the North Saskatchewan Football League (NSFL) wrapped up its sixth week of play on Friday with both Prince Albert schools continuing their regular seasons.

St. Mary was in Martensville on Thursday afternoon where the Marauders were edged by the Royals, 17-15. All of Martensville’s points came in the opening quarter, including two touchdowns and three rouges.

Following the first frame, St. Mary began to climb out of the hole with a Cameron Neudorf rushing touchdown in the second and a rouge in the third. Neudorf added another rushing TD in the fourth but it was then that St. Mary ran out of steam as they fall to 0-3 on the season.

Carlton was at home on Friday night, hosting the Lloydminster Comprehensive Barons.

The game was lopsided after the opening quarter with the Crusaders jumping out to an early 21-0 lead. At the start of the second, Jordan Stene scored a touchdown for Carlton to boost their lead by seven more before Lloydminster got on the board with a rouge to end the half.

The back half of the game was much of the same as in the third as Rylan Morrison scored two of his four touchdowns. Not all was lost for the Barons as Carroll Dion scored their lone touchdown in the fourth as Carlton took it 42-8 to stay undefeated at 3-0.

Carlton is on the road in their final regular season match, heading to North Battleford on Thursday to take on the Vikings. St. Mary on the other hand will prepare to welcome back Lloydminster to Max Clunie Field on Friday for their regular season finale. Kickoff for both games is at 6:30 p.m.
