Trial dates set for Sask. human trafficking case
A Saskatchewan human trafficking case, with ties to Tisdale, is proceeding to trial.
Mohammad Masum and Sohel Haider’s matters were last spoken to on Nov. 23 at Rosetown Provincial Court. A trial date was set for Sept. 23, 2024. A separate date for a case management hearing was also secured for June 19, 2024.
The charges against the two men stem from an RCMP investigation earlier this year into forced labour at three Saskatchewan restaurants.
According to information provided by RCMP on July 6, a woman from Bangladesh in Canada on a visitor’s permit was allegedly forced to work 10- to 12-hour days at restaurants in three different towns — Gull Lake, Elrose and Tisdale — after she applied for a restaurant job in Saskatchewan.
