Senators name Staios as general manager, sign Poulin and Bowness to management roles

Dec 31, 2023 | 12:35 PM

The Ottawa Senators have appointed Steve Staios as the team’s general manager, removing the interim tag from the title he held.

Dave Poulin, who played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs front office, has been named the senior vice-president of hockey operations.

Poulin was a contributor to TSN.

Ryan Bowness has also been named the associate general manager, having been the general manager of the Senators’ AHL farm team the Belleville Senators.

Both Poulin and Bowness will report to Staios.

Staios joined the Senators as president of hockey operations on Sept. 29 and was later appointed the team’s interim general manager.

The move comes as owner Michael Andlauer looks to right his struggling team, having fired D.J. Smith as the team’s head coach roughly two weeks ago.

Jacques Martin was named interim head coach, with Daniel Alfredsson joining as an assistant coach.
