Best Hardware Store: George Home Hardware

When you walk through the front doors of George Home Hardware in Melfort, you’ll find inspiration for every corner of your life.

“Anytime you’re nominated for anything, it makes you feel good that people recognize you for your contributions and all your hard work, and then it being voted on by your peers and the public is also awesome,” said co-owner Ena McAuley. “We really appreciate the recognition.”

Ena runs the store with her husband Jeff, but it was actually Ena’s father who started the business back in the 70s. Being in the community for so long has allowed the McAuley’s and their staff to really personalize the shopping experience for their customers.

“We have a lot of employees who have been with us for a long time, and we offer a lot of training to our employees. So, we have people who are excellent at paint and we have people who are knowledgeable about plumbing and cabinetry – so we can offer that knowledge to our customers.”

Home Hardware stores are independently owned which allows the McAuley’s to put their spin on what they’d like in store based on customer needs.

“We want customers to know that we are here to help you on your next project, big or small and here’s how to do it,” said McAuley.

George Home Hardware in Melfort is an authorized dealer of two Canadian cabinetry companies – Wood Crest Cabinetry and Superior Cabinets. There is a newly expanded power tool selection featuring equipment for weekend renovation warriors or professional contractors. The store also carries BeautiTone paint which is the #1 retail paint brand in Canada.
