Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce gearing up for AGM

Apr 1, 2024 | 3:47 PM

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) is hosting their annual general meeting (AGM) this week.

Executive Director Cal Gratton told northeastNOW the meeting will feature updates on the chamber’s membership, promotions, and finances.

A question-and-answer session will follow the AGM, with a social to be held after that.

Gratton said there is excitement in the business community about the chamber.

“Businesses are enjoying the fact that the chamber is active, there (are) events being held, and there (are) discussions through the chamber network as well,” Gratton explained. “The chamber is more visible, and the wheels are really turning for ideas from not only the Board of Directors but the Melfort business community as well.”

Gratton said the chamber welcomes ideas from businesses for presentations or fundraising ideas.

“Bottom line, it’s the membership that drives this Chamber of Commerce.”

MTACC recently held the sold-out Mel-Bex awards, and membership has increased significantly since last year’s AGM, when they had 78 members. That number has now grown to 120.

Gratton said the Board of Directors has also grown and is now full. That doesn’t mean business owners can’t have a say on the organization’s future.

“We are always looking for fresh ideas to bring to our committees that we have,” said Gratton. “We have a parade committee, we have a car show committee – both of those events are coming up really, really quickly.”

Gratton said anyone with ideas on how to improve those events, the Mel-Bex awards, or any other Chamber venture can always have their voice heard by emailing Gratton or giving him a call.

The MTACC Annual General Meeting will be held Thursday, Apr. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Melfort Legion.

Anyone interested in attending can RSVP as soon as possible to Cal at trademelfort@melfort.ca.
