Dec 19, 2017 | 9:00 AM

The Nipawin Hawks recent undefeated streak has catapulted them not only to the top of the SJHL overall standings, but also into the top ten of the Canadian Junior “A” Hockey League (CJHL) national rankings this week.

The Hawks have 54 points already this season on the strength of a 25-5-2-2 record and are undefeated in their last 14 regulation games. Nipawin lead the Battleford North Stars by four points in the battle for top spot in the SJHL and have a seven point cushion over the Melfort Mustangs in the Sherwood Division.

Nipawin won all four contests they played last week including a pair of 3-2 wins over Humboldt, a 4-3 win over Kindersley and a 3-2 overtime win in North Battleford over the Stars.

The Hawks jumped three spots in the national rankings from 13 to 10, and are one of two teams from the SJHL to make the top 20 rankings; the other is the Battlefords North Stars at sixth.
