Watson business wins ABEX award for Growth & Expansion

An organic food business in the northeast region appears to be on the right track, and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce took note.

Canadian Organic Spice & Herb Co., with its facility in Watson, won the ABEX award for growth and expansion.

Colleen Haussecker, founder of Canadian Organic Spice & Herb, told northeastNOW it’s nice to be recognized by a group of fellow business owners, but said she was surprised to walk away with the award.

“We weren’t really sure where we’d come out in the mix,” Haussecker said. “We knew that we’ve been growing and expanding rapidly so we knew we had a good shot at it, but we didn’t know we’d win that’s for sure.”

Canadian Organic Spice & Herb started with 80 flavours and 240 sizes of spices and seasonings but has been growing by producing gluten-free oat, having products in 700 stores across Canada, looking to export into Asia and Europe, and undergoing a 4,500 foot warehouse expansion.
