Cumberland College president mourns teacher’s passing
The passing of a Melfort teacher is hitting her colleagues hard.
Alicia Garlock was a teacher at Cumberland College for several years. The Melfort resident was teaching in China when she fell severely ill and passed away Feb. 13. Cumberland College president Tom Weegar said the news of Garlock’s passing was hard to take.
“I heard the news and was just devastated,” Weegar told northeastNOW. “Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Alicia’s friends and family.”
Garlock fell sick with an influenza strain late in 2017, and at the time of her passing she was in a medically-induced coma in a Chinese hospital. During her career, Weegar said Garlock displayed all the characteristics of a great teacher.
