Melfort Santa’s Helpers campaign looking for new leader for Stuart Eisner Fund
As the Salvation Army’s annual Santa’s Helpers campaign gets underway, the Stuart Eisner fund is making a call for a new leader. The program’s current organizer, Stan Ryhorchuk is stepping down after 14 years in the position.
Captain at the Melfort Salvation Army, Rick Robins said the hamper program is vital for the Christmas season and beyond. The hampers go toward those in need in both the Melfort and Tisdale areas.
“Our Christmas program really helps run our family services and community services ministry here in the community for the whole year,” Robins said. “People aren’t just hungry or need assistance just at Christmas.”
Ryhorchuk said the annual campaign started in honour of a former Melfort lawyer, and has grown into something greater since its inception.
