Work will continue on Melfort’s historic post office in January
The ongoing facelift of the historic post office in Melfort will continue next month.
“We’re really excited to get started on the window replacement program,” Community Development Manager Brent Lutz told northeastNOW. “We’ve been utilizing the historic post office over the month of December with special Christmas events. In the meanwhile, the windows for the replacement projects have arrived and have been situated and are ready to be installed in the building. We’ve had our site meeting with the contractor, and we expect to see work commence there sometime in January.”
Lutz said the project is important for the over 100 year-old facility.
“This project will replace all the windows in the historic post office with historically accurate and energy-efficient windows,” Lutz said. “Certainly the windows will also improve the appearance of the building, and they are maintenance-reduced, so the cost of maintaining these windows will be reduced through the life of the windows which will hopefully last the building another 100 years.”
