Viterra Scotties Women’s Provincials underway in Humboldt

The first draw is in the books at the 2019 Viterra Scotties women’s provincials at the Humboldt Curling Club.

Defending champion Sherry Anderson, curling out of Saskatoon, opened with an 8-6 victory over Regina’s Kristen Streifel.

Anderson stole one in the tenth to seal the win.

Robyn Silvernagle of North Battleford dumped Saskatoon’s Jessica Mitchell 10-1 in seven ends.

Sherry Just of Saskatoon downed Regina’s Amber Holland 9-7 in 11 ends.

The event runs through Sunday, and the winner represents Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
