Memorial Garden to host Go Out and Play Day

Feb 27, 2019 | 2:00 PM

Memorial Garden in Melfort will be the place to be next Saturday, March 9, during the city’s Go Out and Play Day.

Activities such as a crokicurl bonspiel, walking bingo, swooshing, and treasure hunts will be underway from 1 to 3 p.m. Organizer Carol Korol said they started the day last year and are hosting again for a number of reasons.

“We’re tying it in with the Go Out and Play challenge that we had last year as well that runs from Mar. 1 to 10,” Korol said. “We are just asking people to participate, sign on and go out every day and get active.”

This will be the city’s first-ever crokicurl bonspiel, for which participants are encouraged to pre-register.

“We don’t have very many teams registered for crokicurl, so we are really hoping that we get some more teams on board so we can have a good event with that,” Korol said.

Teams of two or four can be registered by calling city hall or by sending a message on Facebook. All of the activities will be held at Memorial Garden and at the library located across the street.

“The day will end off with a weiner roast at 2:30 p.m.,” Korol said.
