Tips from Melfort Ambulance on how to avoid falls during Fall Prevention Month
November is Fall Prevention Month, and Melfort Ambulance has some tips on how to avoid falling both inside and outside the home.
Manager Wayne Therres told northeastNOW elderly people are more likely to fall, and many of those falls are of a life-changing nature, eventually forcing a move from a house to an apartment building, assisted living facility, or long-term care.
Therres said it’s a good idea to wear supportive, non-slip footwear even inside the home, as a way to avoid slipping on surfaces like vinyl or hardwood.
