Humboldt Chamber luncheons returning with president of Prairie Machinery Agricultural Institute

After being on pause for a year, the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its monthly luncheons.

On Feb. 16, the virtual lunch and learn will feature the new president and CEO of the Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI), Leah Olson.

Chamber Executive Director Brent Fitzpatrick said PAMI is a large industrial area in the community that everyone regularly drives by, but has no clue what it is.

“In conversations with Leah, she wants to bring visibility and a little bit more transparency to what PAMI is and does,” Fitzpatrick said.

Last Halloween, PAMI set-up a special gadget to hand out treats that was designed and built by the on-site engineers.

“Everyone loved it, they come here to the Chamber for their treats and then went straight over there or vice-versa,” Fitzpatrick said.

He said he is excited to hear from Olson and learning more about what they do, how they make money, and how they fit in the community, and he feels other people will be interested in hearing about that as well.

The last in-person luncheon was held in February of 2020 and saw 150 people in attendance. The guest at that luncheon was Quick Dick McDick.

“We have just waited for the technology that we were comfortable with to be able to offer one of these,” Fitzpatrick said.

Chamber members were sent invitations to the luncheon and non-members are also welcome for a $10 fee.

The luncheons are a good way for people to stay in touch with what’s happening in their community according to Fitzpatrick.

“This will be an awareness session as well as the next one in March,” Fitzpatrick said. “We have got the fellow who runs the lodgings and catering at the Jansen Mine Project next month.”

Some educational sessions for businesses are on the agenda in the upcoming months as well.
